Kit Seaton, Illustration Portfolio.

So I just finished revising the website.  Hopefully this time it will look a little more consistent.  Greatly simplified the design this time.

This is a short post because things are hopping right now.

Critique this t-shirt design: “Dreamer” – a WIP work in progress

Trying my hand at a submission to Threadless.  Some of my notorious illustrator mates have tried their hands at it:  Andy, Elisa and Blake, all amazingly talented so check them out on my Illustrator Blogroll.   I am merely hopping on the band wagon.  Late, as per usual.  So please, if you have the time, take a look at it and give me your feedback!

I finished posting a greater assortment of textures on my flicker account.  Feel free to enjoy them.

Free Textures!

I’ve been creating a library of textures over time, and I’ve become somewhat obsessed. So what the heck,eh? Might as well share the booty. You can download all the images off my flickr account here:

I will be adding to these over time. I haven’t set up a pro account yet so I only have 100mb per month. I’ll keep you posted.

Here’s some samples:

Autumn Girl

A brand new piece! This was going to be The Green Girl until it was pointed out that she would look a little too much like the Jolly Green Giant’s girlfriend. So in the interest of originality I opted for a warmer color scheme.

A Busy New Year.

Well, it’s been a very busy beginning to the new year so I decided to take this brief lull to catch things up. I finally graduated in December with that hard won degree in Illustration and I began teaching at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design as an adjunct instructor in the Illustration department. I am also assisting the head of the liberal studies department with a theatre studies class. My responsibilities lie mostly in the direction of RMCAD’s first official theatrical production since Lysistrata; NO EXIT, by Jean Paul Sartre. Despite these new responsibilities I am still maintaining a part-time job in retail and attempting to launch my career as a freelance illustrator (which feels a little like the Spruce Goose on its virgin flight).
The best news of the new year was my acceptance into the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition. One of the sequential pages from “Otto the Odd”. I’m pretty excited about it.

Otto 03

In other news, I finally set up the sequential art gallery on the website. There are mostly just some samples from “Otto the Odd and the Dragon King” and I should have some more things up there soon. Eventually “Eve of All Saints” and “Otto the Odd” will have their own independent websites. Should be cool.

Harlequin’s Marvelous Malady

Based on The Marvelous Malady of Harlequin, which is a fictional scenario by a 17th Century Dutch engraver found in “The Italian Comedy” by Pierre Louis Duchartre. The illustrations were done for a handmade book for an artist’s books class. Copyright Kit Seaton 2009. All rights reserved.

A Servant of Two Masters

These series of illustrations were done for my Illustration Grad Portfolio class. The objective was to render a series of character concepts and costume designs for a ‘high concept’ production of Carlo Goldoni’s play, A Servant of Two Masters. The concept was inspired mostly by the painting ‘Soir Bleu’ by Edward Hopper, and is a little bit of an homage to the works of Fellini. I’m still not sure if portraying Silvio as a Pierrot was my best choice, it’s probably more of a nod to the Hopper painting. In the end it’s a hodgepodge of the Italian and French aspects of Commedia dell’ Arte. I had a lot of fun with this project, but I do not know if I will continue any further works in this particular style.
